BaffyMart Story

Hi, I'm Sandy. I am the creator, owner, and shop keeper here at BaffyMart. I do all the web development, shipping, marketing, modeling, front end, back end, you name it. I am also the designer for BaffyMart's leading brand, Wither. By trade, I am an engineer and flight scientist. And one day I decided to change careers and start BaffyMart.

There are two main reasons I started BaffyMart. One is for me, and the other, for the general alternative fashion community.  

Vampire's Garden 2024. Vampire's Garden is an annual vampire themed tea party I hosted for 3 years.

7 years in a big corporate company showed me a lot. Workers are reduced to expendable labor, directors make decisions nearly arbitrarily, and being "successful” has more to do with politics and appearances than meaningful contribution. At the same time I was experiencing corporate slop, I was also watching it all over the internet. And it was taking over something I cared deeply about: art and fashion.

Two major parts of my life were colliding in an unexpected way, united by greed and exploitation. Built off the same system to maximize profit and disregard humans. 

BaffyMart isn’t for maximizing profit or being as big as possible. My goal with BaffyMart is to provide a platform for artists to share their work in a space isolated from mass production, AI slop, and exploitation. Providing high quality artwork, clothing, music, books, and more.

BaffyMart is for people who care about alternative not just as a look or aesthetic, but as a lifestyle choice. For people who care about ethical sources, self expression, and independence from systems that take us away from quality, imagination, and art.
